HIGHLIGHT OF THE THEMATIC FORUM

On 6th September around the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum held in Jakarta, the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance secretariat hosted a thematic forum session on “Financing Energy Transition: Opportunities for Blended Finance and G20 Bali GBF Alliance”. The forum discussed the critical role of blended finance in advancing energy transition, and shared best practices and key lessons from around the region, with perspective on the potential of CCS in Indonesia via blended financing. The forum also discussed the innovative financing mechanisms for just energy transition, and the role of governments, corporations and financial institutions in the successful implementation of these financing mechanism.

The thematic forum also hosted the inaugural Knowledge Partner Signing Ceremony with the United In Diversity Foundation as secretariat of the Tri Hita Karana Forum as the first Knowledge Partner for the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance. The ceremony was witnessed by H.E. Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment; Mari Pangestu, Special Envoy of the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance; and Paul Polman, Tri Hita Karana Forum Steering Committee, with Andrew Steer, CEO Bezos Earth Fund; Ruth Shapiro, Co-Founder and Chief Executive,  Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS); Jeremy Oppenheim, Founding Partner and Katherine Stodulka, Partner of SYSTEMIQ; and Arsjad Rasjid, Chairman of Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and Cherie Nursalim, Vice Chairman, GITI Group, Special Advisor on Climate for the Government of Indonesia under the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, and Co-founder, United In Diversity Foundation Tri Hita Karana Forum.
