High Level Roundtable Discussion and AoA Signing of the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance
17 October, Jakarta, Indonesia
The G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance (GBFA) Article of Agreement Signing Ceremony and Roundtable Dialogue by member countries was held on 17 October, 2024, 13.00 to 15.00 hour (GMT -7) at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta. President Joko Widodo delivered a remark on his aspiration for the G20 Bali GBFA.
The G20 Bali Leaders Declaration acknowledged the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance as the new global institution to unlock investment for the sustainable and inclusive development of the developing countries and promote Global South collaboration. Following the Letter of Intent signing with host country Indonesia around the 10th World Water Forum in May in Bali, and the Article of Agreement Consensus ceremony around the UNGA in New York on Sept 26, countries are invited to set up the G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance (G20 Bali Alliance).
The 17th October inaugural Article of Agreement (AoA) Signing Ceremony demonstrates an urgency and significant milestone toward the establishment of the G20 Bali Alliance as an international organisation. The AoA Signing Ceremony, followed by the Roundtable Dialogue “Moving Forward” discussed the next step for the establishment of the organisation including program on capacity building on Blended Finance. The event invites countries, multilateral and development financial institutions, international organisations, donors and knowledge partners for a discussion to harvest insights and inputs from participants to collaborate and co-create the G20 Bali Alliance initiative.
The AoA Signing Ceremony had Kenya signed up for the G20 Bali GBFA, making it the first country to join the Indonesia-led G20 Bali Alliance dedicated to bridging the financing gap for sustainable development goals (SDGs) and climate action. The hybrid Signing Ceremony event was attended by the government representatives of all the potential member countries and knowledge partners, followed by the lighting of 17 SDGs candles as symbolic commitment toward achieving the SDGs.
