Roundtable Dialogue on G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance Program 2025

15 December 2024, Bali, Indonesia

BACKGROUND

The G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance (GBFA) aims to address the significant financing gap impeding the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the climate transition in developing countries. This initiative was born out of the recognition that mobilizing financial resources from both public and private sectors is essential to achieving the scale and speed of investment required to meet global challenges effectively.

Initiated by the Government of Indonesia and acknowledged in the 2022 G20 Bali Leaders' Declaration, the G20 Bali GBFA represents an innovative solution to the systemic challenges faced by developing nations in securing financing for climate and development projects.

In May 2024, nine founding countries have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI), signaling their commitment to initiating the Alliance. Additionally, two countries, in partnership with Indonesia, have formalized their participation by signing the Article of Agreement (AoA), officially establishing the G20 Bali GBFA as an international organization. The G20 Bali GBFA has also forged collaborations with four knowledge partners, reinforcing its operational and intellectual capacity.

The December 15 roundtable dialogue is a continuous discussion to amplify engagement with members and expand contributions toward the realization of G20 Bali GBFA’s overarching goals. It was also held on the side of the Tri Hita Karana Universal Reflection Journey gathering of government official, global institutions, business, celebrities, artists, academia, youths, religious, indigenous, and grassroots communities for peace and prosperity while setting intentions with open minds, hearts, and wills for the new global institution G20 Bali Global Blended Finance Alliance for happiness and the SDGs.
